TorahScope
is a reflection on the weekly parashah written by
OIM director Mark Huey. It has been developed to offer a
unique, Messianic perspective on life that is consistent
with the foundational writings of the Torah, also
commonly known as the Pentateuch.
The
Jewish community has developed the consistent
pattern of reading a section of the Torah
(Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers,
Deuteronomy) each week throughout the year. This
is a discipline that most in the Messianic
community have adopted as well. TorahScope takes
these weekly readings, and considers their
relevance for human living today.
The
"scope"
of TorahScope indicates the level, detail, or
perspective of observing and analyzing
life―whether through the telescopic lens of the
world, persiscopic lens of the underworld, or a
microscopic lens that will peer into the heart
and soul of individuals. When you put
"TorahScope"
together, you find a grid or lens that can be
very useful in discerning life and the answers
that many of us seek from God.

(In the beginning)

For the past year (2008-2009), I have had the
joy of focusing on the Haftarah readings, in
conjunction with the Torah portions, by writing
weekly exhortations for our subscribers to
contemplate. I trust that you have benefited
from these teachings, and that you are also
developing a more comprehensive understanding of
how the Father’s revelation to His people has
been passed down from generation to generation.
(Stay tuned for the forthcoming TorahScope
Haftarah Reflections commentary in
paperback, due in 2010.)
This year (2009-2010) I am looking forward to
reviewing some corresponding writings from the
Apostles, as they often enhance and clarify the
weekly Torah portions and the Haftarah readings.
I consider it to be a great blessing for
Twenty-First Century Believers to not only be
able to consider the words of Messiah Yeshua in
the Gospels, but also the inspired words of His
early followers. It is my hope that these
Apostolic Scripture
Reflections will
bring even greater clarity to us as we strive to
understand the written revelation of God
throughout the pages of Holy Writ.
It is our prayer that during the coming year,
our subscribers will be blessed by these
reflections and many of the other teachings
(like some of the forthcoming Bible studies and
the seasonal Virtual series), which come forth
from our ministry efforts. If you are being
encouraged and ministered to by our labors of
love, please do become one of our monthly
supporters! A great deal of hard work and study
is invested to provide you with the best
Messianic teachings possible, that we know will
be able to minister to people long after they
are completed.
